Where to start……Life changer? (maybe a bit extreme) Game changer? (not far off) Lip crayon changer? Bang on. A bold statement for a bold product and I’ll tell you why it has entered the top spot in my go to everyday lip product.
First off let’s just say it does what it says on the tin, and that’s not me trying to undersell it, or put it in the same category as Ronseal. Revlon has launched the newest arm to their lip crayon range with 10 beautifully pigmented colours, quite literally bursting with colour, and all of which are perfect for Spring. I’m currently rotating Elusive, a dusty rose pink and very wearable for every day, and Unapologetic, a Barbie bright pink which I LOVE, on a daily basis. Most of the colours are either a pinky or neutral tone, but there is a to die for vibrant orange (so on trend right now) as well as a very unique berry colour, for a more vampy look.
Matte balm at first seems a contradiction in terms, but how right they are to label this product as so. The Matte Balms have a velvety matte finish which is oh-so chic and grown-up, but due to the shea, coconut and mango butters as part of this formula you don’t experience an uncomfortable drying feeling which you can get with matte lipsticks. There’s nothing worse than seeing your lips crack in front of you. Yep, due to these gorgeous butters, your lips feel nicely moisturised throughout the day, a unique and added bonus from a product like this.
Staying power is impressive too, to the point of rivalling my favourite lip crayons of all time, Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. I can wear these all day at work and only really have to top-up at lunchtime due to food and drink being consumed, that’s a full 10 hours, impressive, non? In fact, I would go as far to say that the formula, pigmentation and lasting power is the same as the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, which are nearly £10 more expensive.
Finally a little precursor before purchase…for some reason Revlon has decided to scent their Matte Balms with mint, which also makes your lips tingle slightly. I don’t mind this at all, but maybe worth bearing in mind before you go out and grab all 10 of these beauts.
I know this sounds like an over-the-top, gushing review, but I really don’t have anything bad to say about the Colorburst Matte Balms. I have three of them so far, and I’m itching to buy the rest and would highly recommend anyone who is considering purchasing, to do so imminently…..perhaps I’ll see you in Boots at the Revlon stand, fight you over that orange beauty!
